AS part of their 20th anniversary year, Concerts for Craswall will present a special concert given by the Duo Amadè, on May 15 at 7.30 pm in St Michael's Church, Michaelchurch Escley. The duo will perform a programme of music by Mozart and Schubert, interspersed with readings from their letters.
The violinist Catherine Mackintosh and fortepianist Geoffrey Govier formed the Duo Amadè in order to concentrate on performing the violin sonatas of Mozart, and it is their belief that the performance of these works on period instruments gives them a freshness and vitality that might otherwise be lost.
For 15 years Catherine Mackintosh was leader of the Academy of Ancient Music, and has directed many performances of the Orchestra of the Age of Englightenment, of which she was a founder member. She now concentrates on chamber music, and on passing on her enthusiasm for earlier styles of performing to countless young musicians all over the world.
Geoffrey Govier has been a passionate advocate of the early piano for over 20 years, and is active throughout the world both as soloist and chamber musician.
Together they have performed at Wigmore Hall, and it will be a very special treat to hear them in the perfect acoustic of St Michael's.
