A PETITION to try and get the Government to change its mind about having a mobile phone mast in Fownhope has been handed to county MP Bill Wiggin.
The Hereford Times reported in June that the village was earmarked to have the mast installed under the Government's 'mobile infrastructure project' to improve coverage in the area.
A total of £150million has been set aside by the Government to help rural areas in the country and it was understood that Fownhope would receive some of the funding.
However, the proposed mast was withdrawn because, according to the Government, there was enough mobile coverage in the village.
A petition, signed by 420 people, has since been set up to try and get the decision reversed.
Mr Wiggin has backed the campaign and was handed the petition last Friday.
