HEREFORDSHIRE Federation of Young Farmers Clubs held their pantomime competition last week at Bishops School. Eight clubs, opening with Allensmore YFC, competed for the chance to represent Herefordshire at the next stage. Allensmore YFC and Welsh Newton YFC will be presenting their pantomimes once more on Sunday at 6.30pm. For the chance to boo the baddie and chuckle at the antics, join the two clubs at Kingstone High School. Entry is £5, with children under five free. Refreshments will be available and a raffle will be held to help each of the clubs with their expenses. The make-up for the dame must have broken the bank!
Allensmore YFC members will stage "Puss in Boots", the story of the miller's son and his mother, Margie Pan who with the help of "Boots" get into and out of several sticky situations. Welsh Newton YFC's performance will be "The King's Good Fortune", the kingdom is broke; there is no money left. Can good triumph over evil to find hidden treasure?
Both clubs have had enormous fun practising and hope that the audience on Sunday will have as much entertainment in one night as they have had over the past two months.
YFC is for youngsters aged between 10 and 26. Several youngsters in both productions have performed for the first time, found it very nerve-racking, but rewarding.
