A HEREFORD school has been praised as being a hive of innovation, support and care in a recent SIAMS inspection.
Stretton Sugwas Church of England Academy received the highest possible grade of 'outstanding' for the way in which it is distinctive and effective as a church school.
SIAMS inspector, Angela Daniel, was impressed by the way in which the school used iPad technology to promote its unique Christian character. The school's website features a prayer request page, used by the community as well as a creative celebration of children's work. Further to this, Mrs Daniel commented on the way in which QR codes and augmented reality is used to bring displays to life in school.
RE subject leader, Cerys Ferriday said that the success of the report was also down to the collaborative effort from all the members of the school community, young and old. Pupils, parents, staff and governors were interviewed rigorously and found to be unified in the vision and ethos of the school.
Headteacher Alex Davies explained how the school motto 'Each bee plays a part in the hive' reflects the tangible togetherness and team spirit that was remarked upon in the inspection report.
