HIGHWAYS England has apologised to drivers after their workers were forced to leave road markings unfinished, which resulted in seemingly wonky lines.
Drivers travelling between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye on the A49 noticed the unusual central lines in Much Birch at the start of last week.
Highways England asset and resource manager Robert Jaffier said: “Unfortunately, road marking on the A49 was unable to be completed as difficulties were experienced with the lining material on the new anti-skid surface, which was exacerbated by bad weather."
For the safety of all road users 'no road marking' boards were placed on the A49.
He added: "We apologise for any inconvenience and confusion caused by the unfinished line markings but the difficulties were remedied and the work completed by the morning of Tuesday, August 9.”
