OFF-road bikes are increasingly being used on streets south of the river which police said are a danger to the public.

On the Hereford Cops Facebook page, which is run by officers from Hereford Police Station, police asked for the public to report issues of off-road bikes and scrambler bikes being used on streets in the city.

The Facebook post read: "Over the recent weeks we have had an increase in reports of off road motorcycles/ scrambler bikes being ridden on and off-road south of the river.

"The areas most affected are Goodwin Way, Hinton Road, The Greenway, Putson and Rotherwas.

"This issue is impacting on the community. The riders also pose a danger to members of the public as they are riding on pavements and roads. It is only a matter of time before someone will get seriously hurt."

Police said the bikes are not road legal and the riders often have no insurance or a valid driving licence. Officers are in the process of taking one of the riders to court.

If you are suffering from off-road motorcycles/ scramblers being used on your street then call 101 when it is happening.

Officers asked residents, if possible, to record any video evidence or pictures of the riders.

The post added: "We have the power to confiscate bikes being ridden in an anti-social manner, as well as taking the riders to court for various motoring offences."
