THREE students at the Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) have helped Channel 4 to a national award.
Blind Young Things, a Cutting Edge documentary featuring the college, claimed a prize at the Royal Television Society Awards.
The programme – screened on Channel 4 in April 2007 – followed learners Daniel Angus, Selina Litt and Steve Markham for three months in 2006, covering all aspects of college life. As a result, hits at the RNC’s website almost trebled and the college had a surge of interest from potential learners.
The show won the Educational Impact in the Primetime Schedule Award, with judges calling the show “brilliantly observed”.
RNC principal Christine Steadman said she was very proud of everyone involved.
