THE head of Hereford’s Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) is stepping down after two and half years.
Christine Steadman wants to pursue other projects and spend more time with her family after a busy term as chief executive which saw, among other things, the first stage of a £21.5 million project to include student accommodation, a performing arts centre and complementary therapy at the Venn’s Lane campus completed in time and on budget.
David Adams, chair of governors, said: “Christine has worked very hard to reshape the college to prepare for the new developments and to enable learners to gain the best skills needed for an independent life. We thank Christine and wish her well in the future.”
A statement released this week paid tribute to Ms Steadman for preparing the college for the future and said: “She leaves with some sadness after her hard work in taking forward the agenda for change.”
