WOOLHOPE locals were entertained last week with a play specially commissioned by Woolhope church as part of their St George's celebrations weekend.
The new play entitled George and the Dragon was written by Woolhope Amateur Dramatics Society (WADS) stalwart, Eddie McEnry.
The family comedy told the story of the village dragon that terrorises the local neighbourhood; he raids the shops of food, leaves the villagers hungry and too scared to go out.
In an act of bravery, local boy, George (played by Maggie Hearne) gets some super hero inspiration and comes to the rescue of the townsfolk.
The show brought together new young local talent from Mordiford, Fownhope and Woolhope to join the well established members of WADS for another successful production over three nights.
Now the group are looking ahead to pantomime season and start rehearsals in September.
Anyone interested in joining should contact Sheila McEnry on 01531 670332.
