A MAN has been warned his bike will be seized and potentially crushed if he rides it antisocially on farmland near Hereford again.

West Mercia Police said it had issued a Section 59 warning under the Police Reform Act to a male from Moreton-on-Lugg after he was causing a nuisance last week.

The officers said he was involved in an "incident of antisocial riding that took place last week on farmland between Moreton-on-Lugg and Lyde".

RELATED NEWS:

PC Josh Kitchen said the warning would stay in place for 12 months, and if caught again, the man's bike would be seized and potentially crushed if recovery and storage fees were not paid.

Section 59 was written in law to stop antisocial use of motor vehicles, PC Kitchen said.

"Effectively the law is there to stop inappropriate use of vehicles that annoy the public or place people at risk," he added.

OTHER NEWS:

"It also stops offenders who disrupt the quality of life of others at homes nearby or when conducting their leisure activities, such as horse riding or rambling.

"If you use a motor cross bike for off road scrambling, only do it on land with permission of the land owner and always walk or trailer the bike there, don’t ride on footpaths or bridleways."

PC Kitchen said any suspicious incidents could be reported to police via their website, or by calling 101.
