A DOZEN drinkers from Bromyard have raised more than £10,000 after making a giant drop for charity.
Twelve regulars at the Rose and Lion are back on their feet after completing a skydive for two local charities.
Members split the proceeds between the Kilimanjaro 2010 appeal and the Kidderminster Prostate Cancer Support Group.
Zeta Price, from Kimbolton, climbed Africa’s highest mountain in October in memory of her boyfriend William Aldridge.
The 18-year-old soldier from Bredenbury died in July 2009 after being fatally injured by a Taliban bomb in Afghanistan.
Members handed £5,200 to William’s mother, Lucy Aldridge, during a presentation at the pub last Thursday (Dec 9).
Stan Roden, from Brockhampton, said several of the jumpers knew the Rifleman and wanted to back Zeta’s effort.
The fund-raising group, aged 20 to 68, made the giant leap above an airfield near Cirencester in July.
One of the members had a fear of flying and heights but still made the 12,000ft sponsored jump for the two charities.
The group, dubbed the “splat team”, could organise another fund-raising challenge for St Michael’s Hospice next year.
