DROITWICH is playing host to a huge family reunion this June, for a family which originated in the area.
Anyone with the surname Causier or descended from someone with the name, is being invited to take part in a family gathering in Droitwich on Saturday, June 27.
One of the organisers John Causier, said: “We chose the date for the gathering as it will be the 300th anniversary of the very first Sacheverell Causier being baptised on June 25th 1715, at St Peter De Witton church, Droitwich.
“The town is not only where he lived but also where his descendants continued to live for many generations to follow.”
Sacheverell has been identified as the antecedent of all English–speaking people with the name Causier, and as a result the family is calling this gathering ‘The Homecoming’ with family members due to come from all over the UK, as well as from the USA, Canada, Belgium and Spain.
Over the generations the Causiers have all but left the Droitwich area, moving to Birmingham and the Black Country, as well as Leicestershire, Yorkshire, and overseas.
The day is planned to begin with an announcement from the town crier, followed by a civic welcome from the mayor at St Richard’s House at 10am.
Causiers will then meet up later in the day at the Norbury theatre for three presentations, by a local historian and two family researchers, showing information about the family’s history, before a meet up at the Old Cock Inn.
Anyone who thinks they might be related to the Causier family, can contact John Causier on 01922 406770 or write to johncausier1837@hotmail.co.uk for further information on the reunion.
