GRAND NATIONAL-winning jockey Michael Scudamore has died today, aged 81.
Michael won the Grand National aboard Oxo in 1959 and the Gold Cup with Linwell in 1957.
His son, racing legend Peter Scudamore, is an eight-time champion jockey.
His grandsons Michael and Tom Scudamore have followed in the family’s racing tradition.
Michael junior is a trainer who lives near Ross and Tom is an accomplished jockey.
Michael junior Tweeted: "A huge thank you for everyones kind words. Our feelings at the moment are of huge pride. To have known him, spent time with him and listened to his wonderful stories and to have been able to call him grandad. LEGEND PROUD."
And Tom Scudamore Tweeted: "Respected and loved by all who knew him. 'Keep a leg either side and kep on kicking' Michael Scudamore RIP."
Trainer David Pipe Tweeted: "So sorry to hear of the passing of Michael Scudamore Snr. Thoughts are with the whole Scudamore family."
