JIMMY Harvey has confirmed he has applied to be Hereford FC's first manager.
The former Hereford United player is a a popular figure among many Bulls supporters having made 278 appearances between 1980 and 1987.
"There are a lot of applicants but I would be very interested in the job," said Harvey, who is currently living in the Wirral.
"I can say that I have applied for it."
Harvey's first managerial job was at Morecambe, where he spent 11 successful years.
After suffering a heart attack in 2005, Harvey spent time away from football, before returning to the Shrimps.
However, he was sacked shortly afterwards and was replaced by Sammy McIlroy, who had led Morecambe to the Football League in Harvey's absence.
Harvey later managed Forest Green, whom he led to safety in his first season.
An eight-placed finish in the Conference - Forest Green's highest ever finish - was then achieved, as well success in cup competitions.
Harvey left Rovers in August 2009 and was appointed manager of Chester City until the end of the 2009-10 season.
But he resigned in January of that season and soon linked up with Conference North outfit Stalybridge Celtic.
He left the club in October 2013.
It is understood that more than 40 people may have applied for the Hereford FC job.
However, one person who has decided now is not the time is Steve Guinan.
The former Hereford player, who was the club's record goalscorer during the Conference era, is now working with the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) and says he would not be able to commit to it.
"Planning my diary can be difficult and if I'm in London, I cannot guarantee I would be back on a Tuesday for a game," said Guinan.
"There is also the occasional weekend work.
"My role with the PFA is fantastic and I want to be committed to that.
"Just as if I I got the Hereford job and was offered another one two weeks later, I would have to say no because I would be committed to Hereford.
"Any time in the last six or seven years, I would probbaly jump at it.
"It's unfortunate, but it's the wrong time."
Guinan will be back in Hereford on March 22 to manage a legend's team against a fans' side.
Former players Paul Parry, Tony James, Matt Clarke, Karl Broadhurst and Peter Heritage are just some of the stars who will turn out for Guinan's team at Westfields' allpay.park ground on March 22.
Proceeds on the day will go towards Children with Cancer UK.
Entry is £4 adults and £1 children, with the game kicking off at 2.30pm.
