GOODRICH tightened their grip at the top of Division One of the Marches League with a narrow eight run victory over second-placed Luctonians.
The league leaders posted a useful target of 253-9, with Andrew Brown (46) and Tony Beddard (42) leading the charge, although Lucs' Tom Jay took 4-51 to keep his side in with a shout.
In reply, Lucs got off to the worst possible start by losing opener Hamish Light without score.
But this brought captain James Platford to the crease and his knock of 80 helped edge his side into contention. Once he had fallen, Matt Bengry and Ben Probert added some late resistance but the visitors fell agonisingly short, being dismissed for 245.
Elsewhere in the division, a century from Guy Pearson Gregory helped Garnons comfortably beat Brockhampton 3rd by 93 runs.
Gregory's knock of 112 ensured Garnons post 283-8 before James Bolton turned the screw with the ball as his 7-68 helped dismiss Brockhampton for 190.
Woolhope were on the receiving end of a hefty total by Builth Wells who racked up 326-6, with Shaun Weaver taking 4-71.
In reply, the villagers were dismissed for 204, with Will Tanner's 71 the highlight.

In Division Two, leaders Shirebulls are top after emerging as victors in a low-scoring encounter against Glangrwyney, with Luke Griffiths' impressive knock of 67 helping his side set 157-8, before Chris Breeze weighed in with 4-45 to bowl Glangrwyney out for 140.
Marden came away from Knighton-on-Teme with a 61-run win, largely thanks to a century from captain Sam Pratley who helped his side to 235-7.
Pete Richards' 4-37 then helped dismiss the home side for 174.
An unbeaten 95 by Idress Mohammad ensured Colwall 3rd remain top of Division Three. Mohammed's knock saw his side home by three wickets, chasing 215 to beat Strollers.
Eastnor 3rd didn't have such a good day as they were dismissed for just 56 against Kington 2nd, with Oscar Howlett picking up the remarkable figures of 3-0 before Kington hit the required runs for the loss of just one wicket.
