A HEREFORDSHIRE trainer is retiring after a glittering 29-year career.
Richard Lee, from Byton, has saddled two winners of the Welsh National in Le Beau Rai in 2011 and Mountainous in 2013, while also enjoying success at the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National.
His last big race success came with Top Gamble, who landed April's Future Champion Novices' Chase at Ayr.
Lee has handed over the reins to his daughter Kerry, who has been assisting her father over recent years as well as working for Channel 4 Racing.
However, Kerry says that her father will still be on hand to help at Bell House stables, but will be taking more of a back seat role.
Meanwhile, county jockey Richard Johnson has been elected President (Jump) of the Professional Jockeys Association, succeeding AP McCoy.
