ANTHONY Bailey and Gemma Hargraves both proved to be in excellent form at the fourth running of the Breinton 10 Mile Race, which is organised by Wye Valley Runners.
Bailey, representing Cheltenham Harriers, was a convincing winner of the race, finishing in a time of 56.50.
James Pugsley, of Bideford AC, secured second place, closely followed by Steven Flowers of Wye Valley Runners.
Hargraves, of Almost Athletes, set a blistering pace in the ladies race with a new course record time of 65.02.
Gintare Gaigaliene, of Wye Valley Runners, continued her recent run of fine form to finish in second place, followed over the line by the third-placed Helen Lipscomb of Forest of Dean AC.
Wye Valley Runners members Steven Flowers, Jeremy Jehan and Ian Sockett secured the men’s team title, while Forest of Dean runners Helen Lipscomb, Sue Shergold and Sherryl Hall secured the ladies prize.
Flowers and Gaigaliene were the winners of the Herefordshire County Championship race and were awarded the County Championship Cups.
The Tom Pugsley memorial trophies aimed at encouraging young people to participate in sport were awarded to James Pugsley (Bideford AC and Becky Humphreys, representing Wye Valley Runners.
The Ross Jones Memorial trophy was won by Nikki Childs of Wye Valley Runners.
Refreshment sales during the day raised £73 for the club charity of the year, which is the very deserving Midlands Air Ambulance service.
