LEADING Hereford cricketer and all-round sportsman Vic Jones has died, aged 84.
Jones played many years at Hereford City Sports Club and was a first class batsman and wicketkeeper, playing his last game at 62.
When he was 17, Jones played minor county cricket for his home county, Montgomeryshire, and for his regiment during national service in Egypt.
Jones was also a good hockey player and played for Hereford City Sports Club for many years.
Prior to moving to Hereford, he played for Worcester Hockey Club and remained a vice-president there.
Jones also played skittles for the Wranglers and was the oldest player there.
Latterly, he played golf with the Curved Sticks Society, which comprised of ex-hockey players.
His funeral will be held at Holmer Church at 11.45am on Friday, July 29.
