TWO junior football clubs in Tupsley have taken over the football pitches at Gorsty Lane from Herefordshire Council.
The joint venture between Tupsley Girls and FC Phoenix will allow both clubs to have a recognised home, which offers an excellent pitch, changing rooms, toilets and a referee’s changing room.
With the help of the Mayor of Hereford, Councillor Jim Kenyon, Councillor Kath Hey and Spencer Grogan from Herefordshire Council, both clubs are already expanding their grassroots teams and are able to offer boys and girls from the age of four the opportunity to play football.
‘‘The support from parents, local schools and businesses has been overwhelming," said Tupsley Girls chairman Jamie Wright.
"There’s been an awful lot of work done behind the scenes to get this venture up and running but all the hard work is already paying off.
"Our clubs are going from strength to strength and have new players starting each week."
