Fruit / Hop Farmer of the Year
This award will identify a fruit/hop farmer who can demonstrate a clear vision for the future with a management strategy for the business, which incorporates a detailed understanding of costs and an investment plan. The category winner will need to define how they have managed resources and delivered efficiencies to the business and improved quality and profit. The business will also demonstrate a marketing approach which considers different elements of the supply chain and can demonstrate how they are helping to protect the environment, through participation in recognised environmental schemes.
Each nominee should provide a 100 word (minimum) summary regarding their farm enterprise (e.g. farm size, flock/herd, other enterprises on the farm, any diversification, technology on the farm etc.) to give an overall flavour regarding the size and type of farm being discussed.
In addition each nomination should include a 100 word summary of the farm’s approach regarding each of the six criteria relating to that category. These are:-
- Enterprise performance
- Use of technology
- Environmental considerations
- Contribution to the community/agricultural industry
- Vision/Marketing Strategy
- Farm Safety
