SHAW Jennifer Ann (nee Powell) Aged 87, of Brigantine passed away on Tuesday June 25th, 2024. Jennifer was born August 8, 1936 in Hereford England where she was raised and educated. An accredited scholar, athlete who loved her country and extremely proud of her heritage. From 1952 to 1959 she received many prestigious awards and honors in the field of education and athletics. Memories of this time in her life she would cherish and revere throughout her lifetime. In 1960 she met her future husband, Joseph G. Shaw, who was serving in the US Air Force at the time. Transplanting to the USA in 1962 they settled in Brigantine and raised three sons, Joseph, Stuart, and Christopher. She joined the ranks of St. Phillip School, at first volunteering in in the cafeteria, but worked her way up to teacher and eventually principal! It was during her 30 years at the school that she met many lifelong friends and felt blessed to be associated with so many who came into her life. Jennifer was pre-deceased by her son Christopher, sister Stella, brothers Stuart and Keith, parents Evlyn and Majorie Powell. She is survived by her husband Joseph, and sons Joseph and Stuart, granddaughter Brittany (Alex), great grandchildren Gavin and Nora, and granddaughter Samantha (Ben) as well as her great friends Ronnie Burns, Pat Jackson and Linda Pirolli. She called Brigantine her "home away from home" and was widely known, recognized and loved as "Mrs. Shaw". She will be missed by so many. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Life Celebration for Jennifer on Saturday July 6, 2024 from 10 to 11:20am at Keates-Plum Funeral Home, 3112 West Brigantine Ave. Brigantine. Memorial Service will follow at 11:30am at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
