COUNCIL - Aymestrey Parish Council clerk for the last few years, Andrew Batchelor, has stood down, replaced by Lesley Keay. George Black has been co-opted as a new councillor.

The council received reports from ward councillor Olwyn Barnett and lengthsman Bryan Williams. The planning application for the replacement of a redundant workshop with a new workshop and extension to office at The Rowans, Mortimers Cross was discussed.

Parish council members recommended approval by the planning department but added that neighbours’ concerns about sound proofing and disturbance should be taken into account.

DANCE - The parish hall is decorated for the Christmas dance tomorrow (Friday) at 8pm.

Paul Keys, of Twin Pack, will be providing the music. There will be a licensed bar and a draw with seasonal prizes. Tickets, to include a ploughman’s supper and mince pies, are available from Helen on 770486, Ruth on 709031, Ken on 770367 and Steph on 770224.

DINNER - On Monday, Aymestrey Carpet Bowls Club holds its Christmas dinner at the Riverside Inn when the prizes for this year’s singles and doubles knock-out competitions will be presented.

CHRISTMAS QUIZ - This year’s Christmas quiz is on December 14 in the parish hall, starting at 8pm. Contestants can bring festive goodies to eat and drink. Mince pies are served at half time and the raffle has plenty of Christmas related prizes.

CHURCH - There will be a Christingle service at Leinthall Earls at 3.30pm on December 16.
