FESTIVAL - The St Edward’s Church Christmas tree festival is tomorrow (Friday), Saturday and Sunday. Decorated trees from organisations in the town will be displayed in the church as well as nativity scenes in church windows. On Saturday, coffee will be served in the church hall and there will be some festive stalls from 10am-noon.
LIGHTS - Knighton’s Christmas lights will be turned on at Brookside Square at 6pm tomorrow (Friday) by the mayor, Chris Branford. Knighton Town Silver Band will play a selection of seasonal pieces.
Afterwards in Knighton Community Centre Father Christmas will be handing out sweets to the children of the community.
PLAY POD - The new play pod will be launched at 10.45am on Saturday at the Offa’s Dyke Centre. The pod will be officially opened by the mayor. There will then be seasonal crafts, food and fun for children aged eight to 12 until 2pm. Children are asked to wear suitable clothing in case they get dirty and children under eight are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
APPEAL DANCE - Knighton mayor Chris Branford will be holding a charity event at Knighton Community Centre on Saturday.
Doors open 7.30pm for 8pm start. Local singers Richie Jones and Judith and Colin Richards will be performing. Tickets, £8 each, are available in Spar or the Clock Tower Tea Shop in Knighton. For further details, call Chris on 07745 811149.

CAROLS - Churches Together in Knighton and district hold their community carols at Knighton Community Centre on Tuesday, starting at 6.30pm. Knighton Primary School children and other town groups will contribute.
There will be refreshments at the end.
COMPETITION - Forty knitted sheep are hiding in shop windows in Knighton ready for a children’s Christmas competition. Nearly all the sheep were knitted by Jean Parkes from the Tower House Gallery and each has a name tag so it can be identified. Entry forms will be given to children at local primary schools and others will be available at shops in the town. The prize will go to the child who finds all the sheep and if there is more than one winner a draw will take place.
BAZAAR - At the annual Methodist Church Christmas bazaar there was a huge variety of items for sale including cakes, craft items, books and produce. The best dressed Santa competition was won by brothers Harvey and Vinnie Roberts and Santa gave all the children a gift.
BINGO - The annual Knighton Under-fives’ bingo raised £825 to help provide continued play activities for the younger children in the town. The event was held in Knighton community centre and the caller on the evening was David Minton who was assisted by Sue Jones and Mike Conway.
