PARISH COUNCIL - At the parish council meeting on December 11, councillors supported Boundary Commission proposals for a new ward which would encompass Mordiford, Dormington, Hampton Bishop and Fownhope. Planning applications at Wallflower Row and Dormington Court were supported. The parish council had received complaints regarding children playing in the burial ground and would erect a suitable sign as well as speak to the headteacher at Mordiford School.
Several road defects were reported, all which were relayed to Amey, as well as the slippery footbridge used when entering Mordiford School. Residents can phone 01432 261800 to report problems on the highways. Residents are reminded that sandbags can be located at 5 Wallflower Row. Three new grit bins have been ordered from Amey; these should be placed over the next couple of weeks.
The parish council also heard about progress with the planning application for affordable housing at Sufton Rise; despite hold-ups the application should be submitted shortly.
The parish council meets every third Tuesday at 7.30pm in Mordiford School hall. Agendas are always placed on the parish noticeboards a week before the meeting.
200 CLUB DRAW - The Mordiford Church 200 Club draw took place at the Moon Inn at 3pm on New Year’s Day. First prize, £90 Mrs Stella Warwood; £60 Andy Price; £30 Kevin Mills. The venue for February draw will be decided nearer the time due to the weather
