COFFEE MORNING - There will be a coffee morning in Knighton Baptist Church schoolroom on Thursday from 10.30am-11.30am.

At the event there will be cakes and other items for sale.

Admission is free and there is a box for donations.

WHIST DRIVE - At the latest whist drive organised by the women of Knighton Bowling Club results were as follows. Men, 1st Ann Price, 2nd Scott Sharp, 3rd Mildred Shepherd and lowest Shirley Moorhouse. First woman was Connie Bright, 2nd Olive Myval, 3rd Doreen Bowen and lowest lady Joyce Boundford.

Raffle winners were Hayden Jones, Margaret Johnson and June Williams and prizes were given out by Linda Parker and Olwen Bowen. Shirley Moorhouse was the MC for the evening and a vote of thanks were given by Linda Parker MBE. The next event will be an Easter whist drive today (Thursday) starting at 7.30pm in the bowling club.

EASTER BINGO - The Friends of Knighton Primary School will be holding their Easter bingo in the school hall on Friday. Doors open 6.30 and eyes down at 7pm. There will be lots of prizes including many Easter eggs.

COFFEE AND SALE - There will be a coffee morning and table sale at the church hall, Knighton, on Saturday from 10.30am to 12.30pm to raise money for the Knighton Festival of Town Criers which will be holding the Welsh invitation competition in Knighton on August 17. Tables at £5 each.

FOOD AND CRAFT - Knighton food and craft market on Saturday will have a decidedly Easter flavour. Local schools have been invited to take part in an Easter bonnet competition, with prizes for the best from an under-14 entrant and for all ages.

Bonnets should be brought early in the morning to allow shoppers to place their votes by 11.30am. A raffle will be held to raise funds for new promotional materials for the market, with prizes donated by many of the stallholders and there will also be special offers at several of the stalls for this Easter market only. Among new stalls this market, shoppers should look out for Fish-in-a-Box, with all kinds of fresh fish and seafood.

The market starts at 9.30am and finishes at 12.30pm, a slightly earlier finishing time than previously.

CONCERT - There will be a concert by the Singing for Fun group led by Marion Rowlatt at the church hall, Knighton, on Saturday starting at 7pm.

Admission is £4 to include refreshments, with proceeds to be divided between the Knighton food bank and St Edward’s Church.

HARP RECITAL - Knighton and District Concert Society will be presenting a harp recital with Glenda Allaway on Sunday at 3pm in the church hall.

CHURCH SERVICES FOR PALM SUNDAY - Knighton Methodist Church, 11am led by Mike Owens.

Knighton Baptist church, 11am led by Rev Maggie Rich. Knucklas Baptist Church and Heyope Church: There will be a short service at Heyope at 3pm followed by a journey with donkeys to Knucklas, where there will be another short service and refreshments.

Knighton Catholic Church, celebration of holy mass 11am. St Edward’s Church, Knighton, 9.30am holy communion led by Rev Melia Cope. St David’s, Whitton, 9.30am morning worship led by Rev Petra Beresford-Webb. St Andrew’s Church, Norton, 11am morning worship led by John Clements.

MAUNDY THURSDAY AND GOOD FRIDAY - March 28, St Edward’s Church, Knighton 7pm holy communion. Knighton Baptist Church, evening communion service. On Good Friday, the procession with the cross will start from Knighton Hospital and Cottage View at 10.30am. This event is arranged by the churches together. All are welcome to join the procession of witness at any point on its journey through the town stopping at Brookside Square, the Clock Tower, St Edward’s close, St Edward’s Church and finishing at the Methodist Chapel. St Edward’s Church has Good Friday reflection at 2pm led by Rev Petra Beresford-Webb. St Andrew’s Cchurch, Norton ‘The last hour’ service is at 2pm (please check the noticeboards) led by Rev Melia Cope.

FAURE’S REQUIEM - The Llanfair Singers will be singing Faure’s Requiem on Wednesday as part of the Holy Week celebrations.

The performance will take place in the church hall, Knighton, at 7pm.

EXHIBITION - There is an exhibition of monochrome prints on display in Knighton library until the end of March. These are the work of local photographer David Bunyan.

COFFEE MORNING - At the coffee morning held in the church hall last weekend £120 was raised for St Edward’s Church. Raffle winners were Gwen Morgan, Emma Bywater, Janet Lewis, Islwyn Watkins and Edith Conway.
