The Easter holidays have arrived, meaning another couple of weeks with energetic children full of chocolate, raring to go and ready to get out in the great outdoors. We’ve found a selection of activities, including, of course, an Easter egg hunt or two.

Easter Holiday Club at Oaker Wood near Leominster

April 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11.

Full days of multi-activities for children aged seven to 12, and teenage adventure days for 12 to 16-year-olds.

Goodrich Castle Easter Family Fun Trails from tomorrow to April 14.

Catch him if you can: the Easter bunny has been up to his old tricks laying trails to yummy treats for families who can track down all the clues.

Trails run daily from 10am to 5pm. Admission charges apply, but English Heritage members will get in free.

The Jungle Book is on the road

The Courtyard will be bringing all the fun of The Jungle Book to libraries in Herefordshire, with storytelling, craft activities, acting games and much more.

The Jungle Book

The Courtyard’s Youth Theatre presents an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic story about Mowgli, a young boy raised in the jungle by a family of wolves. When the man-eating tiger Shere Khan hears of the boy he swears to track him down so Baloo and Bagheera decide to take Mowgli to the man-village for his own safety. Eastnor Castle

From tomorrow (Good Friday) until Monday, April 1, 11am-4.30pm. Easter wouldn’t be the same without the annual Easter Treasure Hunt at Eastnor. Join in the mEGGa hunt around the castle and grounds, find the clue and crack the code and you will be in with a chance to win a mEGGa chocolate egg. There’s a ‘mEGGa structures theme’ and the hunt is on for the Eastnor chickens and bunnies dressed in various costumes from around the world. You may find a chicken wearing a beret next to the Eiffel Tower or a rabbit in a sari all hidden in the castle grounds. All participants will receive a chocolate treat.

Hampton Court Castle

Cracked Egg Trail and Children’s Craft Workshop, tomorrow (Good Friday) until Tuesday, April 2; Friday, April 5 to Tuesday, April 9; and Friday, April 12, to Sunday, April 14.

Sharon’s Easter egg has been cracked into many pieces that have been scattered around the gardens and parkland.

Sharon is desperate to find them and work out how they all go back together. Can you help her find them? There is a reward if you can find them all. You can also see Sharon in her workshop making, painting and showing all sorts of crafy ideas.

Fiery Jack’s Show, Circus Workshop and Ferret Racing.

From tomorrow (Good Friday) to Monday, April 1.

Every morning Fiery Jack will be meeting and greeting visitors on his six-foot unicycle.

Later watch his amazing show and then try your hand at some circus skills. Great fun for all ages.

Join in the excitement of live ferret racing. Lightning, Shadow, Biscuit, Snowball, The Dude, Chocolate, Mighty Mo, Puzzle and Buffy the vampire ferret, will be putting on their own very funny show three times during the day. At the end of each show four of these fine, furry balls of fun will be racing for victory on their medieval racecourse.

There will also be giantsized games on the south lawns with instructors on hand to help you out.

Sunday, March 31: Why not make and wear your own Easter hat and enter the Easter Hat Parade Competition to be held at 3pm.

For the sixth year running, Cadbury and the National Trust are teaming up to help families celebrate Easter weekend together by offering fun Easter Egg trails at trust places throughout Herefordshire.

Follow cryptic clues around the picturesque gardens, complete funfilled challenges and explore to hunt down a delicious Cadbury prize.

All four National Trust attractions in Herefordshire are running different themed trails from Good Friday to Easter Monday, £2 per trail with a Cadbury chocolate Egghead prize.

Brand new this year, on Easter Monday at Berrington Hall, Brockhampton Estate and Croft Castle and Parkland, families can take part in a traditional Easter favourite – the egg and spoon race.
