FIVE Herefordshire councillors will be axed by 2015 as the council redraws its boundaries.
Following a Local Government Boundary Commission review the number of councillors will be cut from 58 to 53, with ward boundary lines reconfigured to ensure each councillor represents approximately the same number of people.
Coming into effect in time for the next local government election, the move would see at least £35, 000 in annual salary taken off the council payroll.
Council leader John Jarvis said the change will produce a fairer value of votes, as currently some councillors represent many more electors than others.
