A REMEMBRANCE wood which provides green burials in Herefordshire celebrates its tenth anniversary this month.

The Humber Woodland of Remembrance, based four miles from Leominster in Risbury, offers green, environmentally sustainable burials, a natural alternative to cremation, or burial in a conventional cemetery.

It is available to anyone regardless of religious belief and graves are marked by planting a native tree or wild flowers instead of a headstone.

A tenth anniversary open day will be held on Saturday April 27 and visitors are invited to see the woodland and learn more about green burial.

White doves will also be released on the day in memory of those buried at the site.

Staff will be available between 11am and 4pm at Humber Woodland and The Hop Kiln at Risbury Court to answer any questions and show visitors around.
