A CAT died following a house fire in Kingsland this morning.

Three fire engines were called shortly before 10.20am and found the whole property smoke-logged.

The blaze was brought under control with two hose reels and a covering jet used.

There were no people inside the house, but a dog was rescued.

“The fire had broken out in a cupboard off a bedroom upstairs and there was fire damage in the bedroom, severe smoke damage throughout the first floor and water damage on the ground floor where pipes had burst,” said station commander Gary Jay, from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally in an electric shower pump.
