A SHEEP farmer has taken to the internet to put his own fun stamp on the horse meat scandal.
Russ Whistance is the star in a You Tube video that sees him wearing a horse’s head while riding the Hereford Bull statue in High Town and performing a dance routine to Gangnam Style.
The man from Garway Hill said that he wanted to highlight the power of the supermarkets in the 21st century and how they use it irresponsibly.
“The Government, via Defra, are pushing the idea of sustainable intensification, while the supermarkets can do as they please and buy food from places that they cannot trace,” he said.
“The video has already been viewed more than 3,500 times on You Tube and has created quite a lot of discussion.
“Some people said that it’s good to challenge the powers of supermarkets and that it brought a smile to their face.”
Russ, who is also studying a masters degree in sustainable development advocacy at the Bulmers Foundation in Hereford, added that he now hopes to do a Harlem Shake video that will promote the city.
The Harlem Shake is a dance craze that went viral on the internet.
“I would love to raise awareness of Herefordshire food and try to get as many farmers, cider makers and vegetable growers to take part,” he added.
“I would love to do this project and share it with a wider audience, showing the importance and fantastic wealth of locally produced food at competitive prices that is of far superior quality.”
