TWENTY-two people were caught on the phone while driving in the space of two hours.
Hereford police carried out a roadside operation along Belmont Road yesterday morning and motorists caught on the phone will face some form of prosecution for the offence.
Sergeant Dan Pilkington from South Wye police station, said: “Depending on their driving history, all those stopped this morning face getting three points on their licence and being fined £60 or will be put before a court where they may face a harsher outcome.
“People need to remember that it is illegal to use a hand-held mobile phone when driving for a very good reason - they are a distraction and increase your chances of being involved in a collision.”
