POLICE seized four dogs in Herefordshire between March 1 2012 and March 1 2013 under the Dangerous Dog Act 1991.
The figure is relatively low compared to Worcester where 20 dogs were removed from their owners during the same period.
The total cost of kennelling, vet treatment, legal bills and other associated costs for holding dogs in that time in Herefordshire was £3,000 while in Worcester the total was £5,000.
West Mercia Police spent a total £25,000 on holding the seized dogs in that period.
Earlier this year, 14-year-old Jade Anderson, was found dead at a house in Wigan after being attacked by dogs.
