THE CLOSURE of a primary school near Bromyard will be discussed by Herefordshire Council this month.
The future of Whitbourne C of E Primary School first came in to question in February and since then the council have held meetings with staff and parents to talk through other options, such as making the school an academy or free school.
However, no agreement has been reached and the decision to formally consult on the closure of the school, which has just 10 pupils, will be made by the cabinet member for infrastructure and education on May 30.
If this is approved the council will not maintain the school from September this year, however they will remain open to working with any groups who wish to provide a community education facility on the site.
