POLICE would like to speak to a cyclist who may have witnessed one of the stabbings that took place in Hereford last month.

Two men sustained serious injuries following the two attacks in Whitecross and Hunderton on April 2. Both victims are now believed to have returned home following hospital treatment.

Detectives investigating the stabbings say that they have been made aware of a man cycling along Hunderton Road at around the time the second stabbing happened on a footpath near Golden Post.

The cyclist is described as white, aged 20 to 30, and of a muscular build.

He is believed to be Eastern European and officers will now be handing out leaflets and posters in Polish and Lithuanian in an attempt to trace the man.

“I would like to reassure this man that he is no way being sought as a suspect but he could be a vital witness,” said Detective Chief Inspector Paul Williamson.

“He is not in any trouble and we simply need to establish what he saw that afternoon.”

Joanna Dennehy, aged 30, from Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Gary Stretch, aged 47, from Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, has been charged with encouraging or assisting in the commission of indictable offences, believing that one or more will be committed (under the Serious Crime Act 2007) and remains in custody.

He has also been charged with a burglary in Kington.
