CHURCH SERVICE – Next Sunday is Rogation Sunday and a service of Holy Communion with rogation prayers will take place at Aymestrey Church at 11am.
The on-farm service will now take place on June 2 with the venue to be announced nearer the date.
PARISH PLAN – On Wednesday, the Aymestrey parish plan will be launched at a special parish meeting in the hall at 7pm. The parish plan sets out the aims and objectives for the next five years.
Although it is the responsibility of the parish council to implement the measures it is important that parishioners are involved and all parishioners are entitled to attend this meeting where any matters of concern can be raised.
Anyone interested in helping to further action points in the plan – such as taking part in wildlife surveys or helping to develop an Aymestrey guide book – will be welcome to come along on May 8 to the official launch.
PHOTO COMPETITION – The 2013 Aymestrey calendar was a great success, raising more than £600 for the church and village hall. Organisers are now looking for 13 photographs for the 2014 calendar (one for each month and one for the cover). The chosen photographs will be selected in a competition at this year’s summer fete on July 20. Photographs taken in Aymestrey of any subject will be accepted, but those representing the parish and the seasons will have the best chance, so get your cameras out with next year in mind.
WALKING WEEKEND – In a county renowned for beautiful walks, Aymestrey parish is fortunate in having some of the best.
Now for the first time a walking weekend between May 10-12 has been organised to raise money for Aymestrey Parish Hall.
The weekend starts with the film The Way (12A) in Aymestrey Parish Hall on May 10, at 7pm.
Tickets cost £3.50 and available in advance or on the door.
On May 11 there will be an eightmile circular walk (moderate) from 10am to 3.30pm, finishing with a cream tea, price £3.50. A four-mile walk on May 12, from 10am to 1pm, is also moderate – priced £8 to include lunch in the parish hall. To book any of the events or for more details, call Steph on 07971 652341.
