IT is not hard to find the newest ride at this year’s Hereford May Fair.
If you somehow miss the giant “Air”, then the screams of those aboard the spinning contraption will soon bring you to the corner of Bridge Street and King Street.
Abie Danter, from the Showman’s Guild, said the new attraction has proved very popular.
“It was manufactured in Germany about a year ago and was one of the main attractions at the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland,” he said.
“It has also travelled to Holland, so we are lucky to have managed to fit it into Hereford.”
The fun got underway yesterday afternoon following a formal ceremony between the Mayor and the Lord Bishop on Cathedral Close.
Abbie said the weather certainly helped the three-day event get off to the perfect start, adding that the opening night was like “being at Disney World”.
“The city was packed from children to grandads, it was absolutely magical,” he said.
“Even the ones who are against it can see the amount of people who were enjoying it. It is a tradition that we can’t get rid of, so long may it continue.”
The fair will remain in town until tomorrow before heading off to Kington.
People in Hay-on-Wye will then be able to enjoy the rides from May 16 to 18.
