A CHARITY shop that was hit by a suspected arson attack earlier this year has reopened its doors.
Barnardo's in Broad Street, Ross-on-Wye, lost all of its stock and sustained interior damage in January this year after it was broken in to via a back door. No one has been arrested in connection with this incident.
Eight firefighters were called to tackle the blaze in a storage area on the first floor and were later praised for their quick response which stopped the fire spreading to nearby buildings.
The shop re-opened on Saturday following a complete refurbishment and a new delivery of stock.
Cassie McAfee, the new store manager, said that despite the challenge of putting everything back together – the shop’s fixtures and fittings were also vandalised – it has been a very rewarding few months.
“People have been holding on to stock for us which is wonderful,” she said.
“And we have warehouses that have been collecting for us so it has all worked out well.”
The shop is still seeking donations and volunteers.
