WALKING WEEKEND - In a county renowned for beautiful walks, Aymestrey parish is fortunate in having some of the best.
Now for the first time a walking weekend has been organised, tomorrow (Friday) to Sunday, to raise money for Aymestrey Parish Hall. The weekend starts with the showing of the film The Way (12), starring Martin Sheen, in Aymestrey Parish Hall tomorrow (Friday) evening at 7pm.
Tickets are £3.50 in advance or on the door.
On Saturday there will be an eight-mile circular walk (moderate) from 10am to 3.30pm, with a cream tea served in the parish hall at the end for £3.50. The walk on Sunday from 10am to 1pm will be a moderate, circular four miles and will finish with lunch in the parish hall for £8.
To book any of the events or for more details, call Steph on 07971 652341.
PHOTO COMPETITION - The 2013 Aymestrey calendar was a great success, raising more than £600 for the church and village hall. Organisers are now looking for 13 photographs for the 2014 calendar (one for each month and one for the cover). The chosen photos will be selected in a competition at this year’s summer fete on July 20. Photos taken in Aymestrey of any subject will be accepted, but those representing the parish and the seasons will have the best chance, so get your cameras out with next year in mind.
CHURCH - There will be a service of holy communion at Aymestrey on Sunday at 9.30am.
FETE MEETING - Following the first meeting to organise this year’s Aymestrey fete, taking place on July 20, it was agreed that all the gazebos stored at the parish hall will need to be sorted out. There will be a meeting to do this on May 22 at 7.30pm.
