EMERGENCY services were called to a fire at a Leominster hotel yesterday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to the Talbot hotel at around 3.30pm after an electrical fault caused the initial fire, which then set the curtains alight in a bedroom on the first floor.
Hotel staff did not attempt to go into the room because the fire was so severe and the building was evacuated.
Crews from Kingsland and Leominster attended and entered the room in breathing apparatus.
Dry powder and carbon dioxide was used to extinguish the fire.
Fire fighters praised the well-maintained fire door, fire alarm system and hotel staff in ensuring the fire did not spread.
