THE team redeveloping the Old Livestock Market has been providing students with an insight into the construction industry.
The construction team at the Stanhope development, led by Sir Robert McAlpine, has linked up with the Hereford branch of CSV (Community Service Volunteers).
Ten students from the learning and volunteering charity were invited on a progress tour of the site.
The charity’s Hereford branch runs a foundation learning course, which offers 16 to 18-year-olds training in personal and vocational skills and qualifications allowing them to progress to higher level training, work or further education.
It also operates a CSV works course for 19 to 24-year-olds who are out of work to gain experience while working towards qualifications.
The visit to the development included site tours, mock interviews and talks to extend students' knowledge of an operational site.
The construction team has been engaging with young people through the charity since mid-March and plans to continue the programme over months to come.
Keith Edwards, from CSV, said: “It was a great experience for these young people to see a site that is coming to life in their own
city."
