HEREFORDSHIRE Council has called off today’s crucial cabinet debate on cuts to services that span from loos to libraries.

The debate has instead been deferred to the full council meeting next Friday.

In the face of growing and vociferous public protest, Cabinet was today set to approve the principle of the proposed cuts programme and send that approval to full council as a recommendation for debate.

The decision taken behind the scenes at Brockington this morning now leaves that approval of principle entirely up to a full council vote, with the ruling Tory group holding a majority of one.
