ARTISTS and makers from Powys will showcase their work in the centre of Hayon- Wye as part of this year’s Fair on the Square event running over the bank holiday weekend.
Under the banner of artsengine – the online directory of Powys artists and performers – there will be about 10 makers in the marquee in Market Square each morning demonstrating their skills and providing hands-on activities including weaving, mosaic work and video making.
“Our aim is to highlight just a little of the creativity which is in bloom in Powys all year round,” said event organiser Kate Bull.
Artists taking part include Will and Lottie O’Leary, stone carvers from Knucklas; printmaker Ian Phillips from Machynlleth; Sheree Murphy, a young photographer and painter from Ystradgynlais; and members of the Spin A Yarn group, based in Rhayader.
The Monday morning session, programmed by Arts Alive Wales, features potter Alex Allpress, sculptor Matt Caines, visual artist Blue MacAskill and cabinet maker Dan Tomlinson .
Arts-engine on the Square can be seen from Saturday, May 25, until Monday, May 27, 10am to noon daily.
