PRIMARY SCHOOL - The school have received a cheque for £67.50 from the Rag Bag recycling scheme for nine bags of clothing sent off last month. Thanks to everyone using the clothes bank.
Continue to put clean used clothes and shoes into sealed plastic bags and drop them in the bank. Class one had a trip to Charles Phillips’ farm for the afternoon last week. The children had their picnic lunch taking in the panoramic view and went down to the pond looking for tadpoles, newts and pond skaters.
Thanks go to Adrian and Carina Phillips for their hospitality and transporting children up the mountain and to Lisa Briggs and Wendy Nash for giving up their afternoon to help out.
Parents are asked to note that squash is provided at lunchtime for all children that have a hot lunch on that day. Children who bring a packed lunch need to bring their own drink for lunchtime, although drinking water is available throughout the day for all children.
LIBRARY - The community library needs locals from the village and surrounding area to come along to browse the selection of books replenished regularly by Ross library and to borrow three books for three weeks. This will help to keep this valuable service going. It is open every Tuesday 9.30am-noon and every Thursday 2pm-4.30pm. Follow the signs over the bridge to Horsecroft, a few steps from the village centre.
CHRISTIAN AID - There will be a door-to-door collection for Christian Aid this week. About 870 million people are desperate for food.
WALKING FOR HEALTH - The walks continue to flourish every Friday starting at 10am outside the fish and chip shop for a short gentle stroll around the village lasting about one hour before a cup of tea or coffee in Koffi Pot. It is free and open to everyone who is wearing a sensible pair of walking shoes. For more serious walkers there is a walk around Tregate and Skenfrith on Monday.
FLICKS IN THE STICKS - The last film of the present series will be tomorrow (Friday) starting at 7.30pm in the memorial hall.
BMS COFFEE MORNING - On Saturday in the baptist hall from 10am-noon there will be the usual stalls, cakes, plants and bric-abrac.
PLANT SALE - In Abbeydore Hall on Saturday, from 2pm.
