DANCEFEST, the dance development organisation for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, is launching DFA, a new performance group for dancers aged 20 and over who have strong contemporary technique, are used to working creatively and who have a sense of adventure.
The group’s first project is a short outdoor performance, Passeggiata.
The name comes from the Italian social tradition where whole communities take to the streets for an evening stroll before dinner.
The performances will take place on July 27 in Worcester and August 10 in Hereford, when DFA will be travelling through the streets, surprising shoppers and tourists with an upbeat promenade performance incorporating inventive dance, quirky costumes and an eclectic mix of music, all with guest performances by other Dancefest groups.
Passeggiata will be devised by the dancers, and rehearsals for DFA start on Sunday at 9.30am at The Angel Centre in Worcester and there is still time to get involved if you would like to take part. Dancefest is also looking for a costume designer/ maker to work on the project.
