A TALK will take place in Hereford aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the David Rattray Foundation.
Andrew Rattray will present an illustrated talk on the story of the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 at The Powell Theatre in the Zimmerman Building at Hereford Cathedral School on Monday June 3.
Over a few hours in January 1879 the British Army suffered a crushing defeat by the Zulu Army at the Battle of Isandlwana and engaged in heroic action at Rorke’s Drift where 11 Victoria Crosses were won.
Two of the most evocative battles in British history they spanned a solar eclipse known to the Zulus as 'The Day of the Dead Moon'.
The evening begins at 6.30pm with drinks and light nibbles and the talk begins at 7.15pm.
Tickets are £10 and are available from John Rose. Email him at secretaryabf@btinternet.com for more information.
