WI - In a change to the advertised programme, the WI meeting at Stoke Lacy village hall at 7.30pm tomorrow (Friday), will feature Barbara Priest giving a presentation on ‘floral ideas for autumn’. The competition for the evening will be ‘an arrangement in green’. The social evening originally scheduled will now be held in September.
FRIENDSHIP CLUB - Tuesday, from 10.30am, (in a change to the original programme), members will be receiving a visit from Mr Hill who will be showing his slides of New Zealand.
Members are reminded that, if they would like to have a hot meal after the meeting, they will need to book by calling the WRVS on 01432 267555, preferably no later than the Thursday before each meeting.
Anyone who books a meal and then finds they cannot attend is asked to use the same number to make a cancellation as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the WRVS (or RVS as it is now renamed) is itself looking for helpers. If anyone would like to volunteer their services to serve up meals in various places around the county - including Stoke Lacy - they are asked to call the number shown above.
BLACK TIE DINNER - The governors of Pencombe CE primary school are holding a black tie dinner/dance at The Plough, Stoke Lacy on July 13, with champagne, dinner, dancing and a promise auction in aid of school funds. VILLAGE FETE/ROUNDERS TOURNAMENT - There will be a rounders tournament on June 22, at Stoke House, Stoke Lacy, (as part of the Stoke Lacy church fete). Rounders will commence at 4pm with teams competing for the Stoke Lacy annual sporting challenge trophy. AFTERNOON TEA - The format for the Stoke Lacy produce markets is being changed and will now be combining produce sales with other events. The first such event will be an afternoon tea at the Stoke Lacy village hall to be held on June 30, from 3.30pm- 5pm. The cost will be £5 and will include a selection of cakes and sandwiches and a bowl of local strawberries and cream. The proceeds from the raffle will go to the Acorns Children’s Hospice.
PARISH PICNIC - The Stoke Lacy parish picnic will be held on July 7, at 11am, following a family service at the church. The picnic will then be held at The Rock.
Please bring your own picnic - puddings will be provided! If the weather is inclement then the picnic will be in the church.
