VILLAGERS in Mordiford could see its post office only being open for one day a week.

It currently operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but the Post Office said that it is proposing ceasing the Tuesday service because of the lack of customers that use it.

“We understand how important having a post office branch is to residents in Mordiford and our priority at all times is to safeguard post office services to local communities,” said post office field change advisor Neil Jenkins.

“It is important that the service is viable for our operator and with relatively low customer numbers we are proposing to reduce the operating hours of the hosted service.

“We are confident that the Thursday service will continue to meet the needs of customers in Mordiford and ensure the service is sustainable in the future.”

A public consultation will take place up until August 14 before a final decision is made.
