PARISH COUNCIL - Phil Eyles, clerk to Breinton Charities, explained the role and work of the organisation to the August meeting.

Breinton Charities receives rents from land and other investments and the trustees distribute this money to needy parishioners (usually at Christmas) and to young people to support their education, such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, or help with books and materials. Call Phil on 01432 263471 if you know of anyone in Breinton who may benefit from this scheme. The council renominated Pat Churchward and Richard Griffiths as trustees for the charity.

The external auditors Grant Thornton confirmed the council’s annual return and accounts for the year ending March 31.

LUNCH CLUB - A presentation on the Living Well for Longer scheme will be made to Breinton Lunch Club in early September.

The scheme is going from strength to strength in Burghill, and representatives will attend the event.

PARTY - Breinton fireworks party is on November 8 – further details to follow.

BREINTON RINGCRAFT SOCIETY - The judge for August was Anne Speake who chose Caroline Scott’s miniature smooth-haired dachshund Wolferlow Anthea for best puppy.

Reserve best puppy was Sue Gillespie’s whippet-penbriar She’s a Lady and best veteran was Jeanette Shepherd’s golden retriever Tregeseal Tonic of Beaujean. Best adult and best in match was Noz Barrett’s Shetland sheepdog Sheldonora Lightening Bolt and reserve adult was Molly McConkey’s whippet Barmoll Bronte. Congratulations to Rob and Doreen Richardson and their lhasa apso Belazieth Smarties Red Gem on gaining her first CC and best of breed at the Welsh Kennel Club show. Kathy George also had a good day with her Glen of Imaal terriers winning her first CC and best of breed with Romainville Billy Whizz and the reserve bitch CC with R Jean Genie – she also bred the bitch CC winner. Jeanette Shepherd was delighted to be placed in both her classes with her golden retriever Beaujean Ambassador at the Golden Retriever Club centenary show.
