I'VE read many surveys reporting that people are obsessed with their mobile phones, and even text before they go to sleep because they can’t nod off in peace without seeing if they have been sent one last message.
That may seem quite dramatic to some people, but I bet it’s not as uncommon as you may think.
I admit I’m obsessed with my mobile and check it regularly throughout the day, and yes that does include before I go to bed.
And I do ask myself why I do it, when I’ll be notified anyway whenever I receive a text, email or tweet.
But, I still find myself constantly checking Twitter and Facebook and browsing the internet.
Of course, I do it on a professional basis and have my phone linked to both my personal Twitter account and the Hereford Times one.
My Saturday afternoons are normally spent tweeting live updates from Hereford United matches, which I love doing.
I also regularly tweet other live incidents and breaking news stories, and I tweet on a personal basis and love the way in which social media can be used, even though it can sometimes be abused.
You can do everything on a mobile phone these days.
It’s no longer just a device that enables you to make calls or send texts – we also take photos and videos, shop, bank online, and download music or even view whole episodes of television shows with our phones.
Of course, some people still only use their mobiles to make and receive calls or don’t even own one.
It was not that long ago when mobiles didn’t even exist, which seems unthinkable now.
There is even a condition for people who cannot live without their mobiles, calls nomophobia.
I wouldn't say that I have got that, but, I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets annoyed when something goes wrong with it or you cannot find it.
Are you obsessed with your mobile phone?
