VILLAGE SHOW - The 10th village show took place on September 7 and was a huge success. Following a speech by show chairman Dian Cope, Rev Julie Reed presented the following prizes: cookery, Esther Simpson; wine, Pat Roche; floral art, handicraft and horticulture, Esther Simpson; photography, Keith Mitchell; art, Brian Pollard; creative writing, Kathleen Freeman; children under six, Harris Woodcock; children six-14, Leah Wilde; overall winner, Esther Simpson. The Megan LLoyd Trophy was presented to Shelley Connop by Anita Watkins in memorium.
After the awards Julie was thanked and presented with a basket of flowers arranged by Esther Simpson. A huge thank you went to all who judged, stewarded, entered items, made refreshments, sold raffle tickets, took entrance money, added up marks and, most of all, to those who attended making all the hard work so worthwhile. The Eardisland Village Show committee received special thanks for its stalwart support. New members and fresh ideas are welcome – please call Mavis on 01544 387972 or Dian Cope on 388317. Anyone who does not wish to hoard their rosettes can return them to one of the committee, thus keeping costs down and doing your bit for recycling.
